Había estado en este Hotel hace dos años y me dejó buen recuerdo. He vuelto por allí hace unos dias y creo que se ha convertido el hotel que elegiré en mis estancias por trabajo en Oviedo. Se encuentra a unos 15 minutos del centro andando y a unos 500m del C.Comercial Los Prados. He estado tanto en una habitación doble que era amplia como en una sencilla, que aunque es algo pequeña resulta cómoda. El wi-fi funciona perfectamente,el personal de recepción y comedor es atento, el desayuno es sencillo pero correcto y dispone de parking por 7€. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in mid-November 2014 whilst we visited our son who is at the university doing language study. The hotel is a standard tourist-level place with about 5 rooms on each floor. There are two lifts serving reception both up to the different floors and down to the basement garage levels. The hotel is situated in a part of town that is handy for access to the motorway system and we felt safe walking to and from our hotel. There is a small supermarket almost opposite the hotel and numerous cafes, bars, bakeries and "panaderia" all around and the main street that leads all the way to the very centre of town has many different kinds of shops along it. Going slightly away from town in the other direction there is a good-sized Lidl. The street is one-way, so you have to account for that when leaving and arriving by car. RECEPTION There were three receptionists on rotation when we stayed - two men and a woman. The female receptionist had much better English than the two men. But check in and check out were efficient, friendly and hassle-free. Free maps are available on request. ROOM Keeping double glazed windows closed meant a quiet night, although on the occasions that we opened the window there was considerable street noise overnight. Oviedo city council clears bins every night - which means a very clean city, but the narrow streets can be noisy with service vehicles. We had a comfortable bed and we chose the hotel partly because of its location near one of the university campuses, partly as an economical room rate and partly because the showers loooked really good in the hotel pictures. There was adequate hanging and storage space for clothes and ample lights and switches in the room. There was a flat-screen TV but with little or no US or UK channels. There was a safe which we had to ask reception to come and show us how to use. We were not offered a safe key on check in but once installed it was free and easy to use. There was a mini-fridge with a few drinks already in it, but we actually used it to keep some of our own shop-bought items fresh. Wi-fi was included in the room price and worked well. BATHROOM The shower cubicle is generous and fills the space a standard hotel bathroom would normally have a bath in. There was not much room around the basin to place the contents of our toilet bags and I was glad that I'd brought my travel plug as otherwise the sink would not have held water for a wash or shave. The long narrow pillows were too soft for our liking and I had to sleep with mine awkwardly doubled over. The bathroom overall was very clean and modern feeling. Along with the room it was cleaned daily. PARKING One of the main things to note is if you are using a car. We also booked this hotel because, being a little out of the central area, we thought we might find open street parking. You must be kidding! There is NOWHERE in Oviedo where you'll find a free space in the streets. Hence hotels, including this one, have their own underground parking for which they make a hefty daily charge. Castro Real charged €7.70! We had some difficulty getting the electric door open on arriving or leaving although there is an intercom with reception outside the door entrance. The hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk to the centre (eg the cathedral) and so if we went again, I think we'd probably book in a hotel somewhere on the inner ring. The park house was small and very cramped and I actually scraped the front fender of our hire car trying to squeeze out of the space to leave. BREAKFAST Breakfast was standard Spanish fair for that time in the morning - pastries, croissants, bread, savoury accompaniments, cakes, jams and butter. The receptionist also acts as barista and we did get a hot, milky decaffeinated cup or two each morning. There was supposed to be Spanish egg tortilla but by the time we arrived for breakfast it was in short supply and what was there was rubbery. OVERALL I would say it was adequate for our particular needs on that occasion, though a little cramped, with poor breakfasts and expensive parking.
