This was my second time to stay at this hotel which is located on a quiet and convenient pedestrianised street. I stayed for 9 nights in a twin room looking out onto the courtyard at a price of €34 a night. The room consisted of a bedroom, bathroom and hallway containing a wooden cupboard where there are warm blankets for the winter months plus a few clothes hangers. All the walls are painted in quite an attractive yellow colour with a couple of paintings on the bedroom wall and white tiles on the walls in the bathroom. There are also rather nice tiles on all floors and the ceiling is painted white although the bathroom ceiling in my room was in desperate need of redecoration as it is somewhat ugly in its present state. There is a table which doubles up as a drawer in the bedroom plus a smaller chest of drawers near the beds plus two bed lamps. The main light in the bedroom is, however, quite dim and too dim for Skype videocalls. There are black curtains on the two windows. The window frames do close, but do not lock. There are plenty of towels and toilet paper in the bathroom and the shower has plenty of hot water with good pressure. However, the shower area’s sliding door does not work and cannot be closed while the bathroom’s own sliding door is rather stiff, but does open and close. The staff make an effort to be friendly towards the guests in a number of different languages. There is a sitting room with a television set and laptop for guest use. There is also free wifi in the hotel, but it doesn´t work in all rooms. Also, there is tourist information available. A breakfast can also be ordered the previous day for €5, but an outside breakfast at a cafetería is cheaper. The beds are less comfortable than average because the springs are too prominent and the pillow isn’t thick enough. I thickened it up by placing a folded sweater under it. The walls are paper thin meaning that you need to rely on quiet fellow guests so that you can sleep - not just next door, but on all floors that look out onto the courtyard. Most nights, I was lucky, but a loud, drunken couple came back at the weekend shouting and speaking loudly until about 2-3am when they finally went to sleep. One peculiarity at this hotel is that you must hand in your key at reception every time you go out by placing it in a basket behind the reception counter. Although I have no general objection to this, it does, however, strike me as rather unsafe. Many of the keys hang within arm’s length at the pigeon holes of a reception desk which is mostly unmanned at the weekends. Somebody could theoretically come in and take the key and then use it to break into your room. I am surprised that this hotel doesn’t give a discount to guests who stay longer than about 3 nights. If it were my hotel, I would reduce the price to €30 a night for somebody staying 9 nights like I did. Also, be aware that the hotel only accepts cash. However, I did come across one guest who was complaining that the hotel had debited their credit card because they hadn´t showed up on the right day. The hotel does not allow free cancellation if you use booking.com. Although I do like this hotel and would happily stay here again with no hesitation, I regret to say that some of their policies indicate a greedy style of management.
