Decidimos pasar en este hotel cuatro noches aprovechando una promoción de Colectivia. La opinión general es muy satisfactoria ya que nos resultó fantástico económicamente hablando, pero lo mejor es que nos encontramos casi como en casa, en un hotel en el que nos sentímos muy a gusto, tanto en sus habitaciones como en los espacios comunes, cafetería y restaurante incluidos. La habitación, en la tercera planta, daba al aparcamiento. Bastante amplia así como halladera y luminosa. Los colchones muy cómodos, lo mismo que las almohadas. La lencería sin lujos, pero de agradable al tacto y perfectamente limpia. El ambiente cálido, tanto como para que los frioleros se encuentren divinamente (nosotros dormimos con el balcón un poco abierto) El cuarto de baño un poco pequeño, sin bidé y con ducha solo. No obstante cumplió sobradamente nuestras necesidades en el tiempo que estuvimos allí. Los desayunos, tipo bufé, bastante completos y de calidad, con zumo natural, pan, cereales y bollería, frutas, tomate y aceite, mermeladas y mantequilla, así como fiambres. Yo recomendaría que mejoraran la calidad del jamón york y el queso. Pero ante todo he de resaltar la amabilidad y profesionalidad de los trabajadores. El personal de recepción y las camareras hacen un mucho más agradable la estancia con su perenne sonrisa. La limpieza, impecable. In early October we spent the most fabulous 9 days at the wonderfully welcoming Los Lagos Nature in the centre of Cangas de Onís. Our big 3rd floor room looked out over town houses to the hills beyond, through french doors secured by 'balcony' railings. The bed was huge and comfortable, bathroom and wardrobe spacious; housekeeping staff tireless, efficient, and friendly. The hotel went quiet around an hour or so before midnight, and we were normally enticed downstairs by 10:30 a.m. by mouth-watering smells of coffee, breakfast and lunch (but no noise) wafting in through our open window from the 'Los Arcos' kitchen downstairs, the heart of the enterprise. The hotel/restaurant layout is perfect for a non-stop house party: the ground-floor breakfast room / restaurant is niched / open-plan with the bar, which in turn opens directly out to the ayuntamiento (municipality / town administration), a town-central pedestrianised square set back from the main road. Everyone - staff, guests, and the occasional sparrow - milled in and out and mingled unrestricted. The weather helped, being mainly sunny, so only once or twice were the outside doors closed, during a couple of heavy, cooling evening showers. Front-of-house staff were unfailingly smiling, helpful, efficient, and patient with our broken Spanish, and the food was lovely and always freshly prepared, from the breakfast buffet through to late evening, and even when 'simple' food was offered for the Menu del Día it was gorgeous, with a unique house twist. For example, the Pote Asturiana (a notch up from a simple Fabada) included just the right amount of sharp kale to balance the obligatory stew ingredients broad beans, fatty pork, black pudding and chorizo (all of superior quality); and the Merluza (hake) was poached and served in a buttery sauce with rodellónes (chanterelle mushrooms). Unsurprisingly, the place is popular, but even when full, staffing levels were perfectly tuned, and staff seemlessly self-regulated co-ordination and handovers to cover particularly busy corners. Service was always prompt but also always matched to the guest's apparent preference, so we had both quick and slow meals, and long, leisurely, undisturbed chats over cups of coffee or glasses of wine. When we drank cider, staff would drift past more often to check whether we needed a top-up; Asturian cider tastes (even) better when oxygenated by being poured from a great height and drunk immediately. We really could not fault this hotel, and look forward to our next visit.
